Bike School Ability Levels
Mountain biking lessons at Big White are categorized into different ability levels to cater to riders' varying experiences.
- Level 1: For first-timers, the focus is on basic bike control, safe braking on dirt, handling corners on single-track trails, and balancing on the bike.
- Level 2: Riders with limited mileage will work on building confidence, controlling speed and direction, and tackling features like roots and rocks.
- Level 3: Green riders with at least one season of downhill biking experience will aim to navigate moderate gradients and technical trails, progressing towards blue trails.
Group Lessons
Group lessons are designed to be both fun and educational, offering a great opportunity to improve biking skills in a social setting. Sessions last for two and a half hours and are perfect for those new to the sport or looking to gain confidence on specific terrain. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches lead these lessons, ensuring each participant receives personalized attention and guidance. Group sizes are kept small, with a maximum of four participants for those aged 14 and under and five for those aged 15 and above.
Private Sessions
For a more personalized experience, private sessions offer one-on-one instruction or the option to include family and friends. These sessions are ideal for maximizing skill development and having a tailored program that meets specific needs. Private lessons last for two and a half hours and can accommodate up to three participants. Customized coaching helps riders improve their technique and enjoy a fun, productive day on the mountain.

- Safety Waiver: All participants must sign a Summer Bike School Waiver before lessons.
- Parental Consent: Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign on their behalf.
- Proper Gear: Essential to have appropriate biking gear.
- Exclusions: Lift tickets and rentals are not included in the lesson fees.

Rentals & Bike Service
Big White provides convenient bike rental and service options to ensure riders have everything they need for a great day on the trails. The Rental Shop and Bike Service Centre are located in the Village Centre Mall, operating from Thursday to Sunday, with extended hours on Fridays. The Service Centre offers a comprehensive Equipment Damage Protection Plan to cover accidental damage to rental bikes, excluding theft, loss, negligent damage, or damage during races.
For those needing secure overnight storage, the Overnight Bike Valet service is available for a nominal fee. The rental process includes signing a Summer Rental Waiver, with additional provisions for renters under 18 years old. The Equipment Damage Protection Plan is mandatory for all bike rentals to protect against repair costs.
