Join a festive and creative Solstice Wreath Making on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Compost Education Centre. This event is designed to help participants celebrate the winter solstice by creating a beautiful decorative wreath.
Workshop Details
In this two-hour workshop, participants will use a combination of invasive species and found blowdown from native species to craft a solstice wreath. While constructing the wreath, attendees will learn about the plants being used, including how to ethically harvest and collect them. This hands-on experience will allow participants to tune into their creativity and bring beauty into their homes during the darker winter months.

Instructor Bio
Kayla Siefried (she/her) is the steward of the Compost Education Centre demonstration gardens and the main educator of the Adult Education Program. With a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and extensive practical training in permaculture, gardening, and farming, Kayla brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is passionate about teaching soil health, organic gardening, and DIY tasks that enhance climate resilience. Wreath making is one of her favourite holiday projects, and she looks forward to sharing this craft with participants.
