Description
The Southern Alberta Bowhunters Association (SABA) is an organization dedicated to archery and bow hunting, fostering a strong sense of community among their Archery Club. As one youth member puts it, "It's a community, like our school. But they love hunting and shooting bows.
SABA's main goal is to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in archery, maintaining the long-standing tradition of bowhunting in the Southern Alberta area. Their outdoor archery range in North Lethbridge is a highlight, offering a comprehensive space for archers of all skill levels.
Outdoor Archery Range
SABA’s outdoor range is equipped with black block targets and 3D targets, catering to various archery needs. The black block targets range from 20 to 100 yards and can be used with both field points and broadheads. This is ideal for tuning broadheads for hunting season.
On the other side of the range, a variety of 3D targets are set up from 5 to 80 yards. These targets are for field points only, providing a diverse and challenging practice environment.
Range Etiquette
Members are expected to follow specific rules to ensure safety and respect for the range:
- No firearms or crossbows allowed.
- Sign in upon entering the range.
- Use 3D targets with field points only; broadheads are for black block targets.
- Avoid permanent marking on targets.
- Be respectful and shoot only three arrows when with others.
- No diagonal shooting between 3D and block targets.
- No toxic broadheads on any targets.
- Supervise children and control pets, cleaning up after them.
