Experience absolute freedom on the water with Windsure Adventure Watersports' brand new Wing Surfing & Foiling Lessons. Harness the strong ocean breeze and free yourself from a fixed mast. Start by mastering the wing on a windsurf board, and work your way up to sailing above the waves on a foil board. As the first windsurfing school in Western Canada, they know their way around a board, and wing surfing/foiling lessons are no different.
Lesson Offerings
Discover Wing Surfing: This course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the sport of wing surfing. For those who want to build confidence, develop their skills with a wing, and learn to sail above the waves, Windsure Adventure Watersports recommends continuing on to the Discover Wing Foiling course.
What will you learn? Over the course of this 3.5-hour lesson, learn the basics of this unique sport, including the history of wing surfing, equipment knowledge, points of wing/wind theory, steering, tacking, water and marine environment safety. Spend time both on land and on the water, culminating with onboard sailing to practice what you've learned.
This lesson will run with one to four participants. Windsure Adventure Watersports likes to keep groups small to maximize windsurfing learning experience.
Discover Wing Foiling: The goal of this lesson is to get you to a point where you can safely approach foiling. Private lessons are available afterwards.
What will you learn? Over the course of this 3-hour lesson, receive a quick refresher on Discover Wing Surfing content, learn how to carry equipment, handle a board, start, pitch and roll management, and self-rescue.
Wing Rentals
Windsure Adventure Watersports is committed to helping you get out on the water whenever you want. Operating at beautiful Jericho Beach, Vancouver since 1977, they are THE place to rent wing surfing and foiling equipment. Rentals are available daily, with approval required from one of their instructors after a lesson, or an assessment by one of their staff for a rental entry code.
