Their Purpose
At the core of the Chinatown Storytelling Centre's mission is the celebration of stories as a means of fostering community and understanding. By acknowledging the adversities faced by previous generations, such as disenfranchisement and wartime discrimination, they honor the resilience and triumphs that have paved the way for the vibrant Chinatown community we see today. They strive to create a space where intergenerational dialogue flourishes, inspiring resilience and empathy in the face of contemporary challenges.
What They Do
Through a blend of artifacts, recordings, photographs, and interactive exhibits, they offer a fresh perspective on Vancouver's Chinatown's rich history. By collaborating with the community, they ensure that future generations are connected to their past, preserving the invaluable legacies of their elders. By fostering a deeper understanding of the Chinese Canadian experience and shared cultural history, they empower future generations to take meaningful action.
