Indigenous Access + Engagement
At MOA, there is a firm commitment to upholding the principles outlined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This includes recognizing and respecting originating communities' rights to maintain, control, protect, and develop their cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and traditional cultural expression.
Conservation, Curatorial + Design, Library + Archives
MOA’s Conservation department ensures the careful preservation and use of the museum's collections. The Curatorial department supports initiatives aimed at fostering respectful relationships with cultural communities represented in MOA’s collections. The Audrey and Harry Hawthorn Library and Archives Department houses a library, an archive, and an oral history and language lab, facilitating research and learning opportunities.
Campus Canines at MOA
The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) invites you to their Haida House to meet the UBC Campus Canines. In collaboration with the Pacific Assistance Dog Society (PADS), MOA presents a special afternoons with the puppies from the UBC Campus Canine Team.
This exhibition offers a delightful break from your routine, allowing you to bask in the serene surroundings around MOA’s Haida House while enjoying the infectious energy of these assistance-dogs-in-training. It's a unique opportunity to interact with these adorable puppies and learn more about their journey to becoming service animals.
