Description

This innovative approach to ice skating caters to all skill levels and ages, providing a safe and stable experience on the frosty grounds. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just finding your ice legs, ice biking offers a unique way to enjoy the frozen beauty of Bowness Park.
What are Ice Bikes?
Imagine a bicycle transformed for the ice – the front wheel replaced with skates, the back wheel surrounded by skates, offering a wide and stable base. Forget the need for perfect balance; with ice bikes, you can pedal and steer effortlessly, akin to riding a regular bike. These single-speed wonders come with a simple braking mechanism – just pedal backward to glide to a stop.
Renting Ice Bikes
Getting your hands (or wheels) on an ice bike is a breeze. Adult and child-sized bikes are available for rent at the Skate Shop. The rental process is seamless, and can be booked for half-hour or 1 hour, providing an affordable way to enjoy this unique winter activity.
Ice Bike Safety
Safety is a priority on the ice. Helmets are mandatory for individuals under 18 years old and strongly recommended for all users. Skaters are urged to yield to ice bike enthusiasts, ensuring a harmonious experience on the icy trails. To maintain a safe environment, only one person is allowed on an ice bike at a time, with vigilant staff monitoring for adherence to safety guidelines.
