Building Tyra
The construction of The World’s Largest Dinosaur was a global effort, showcasing the power of international collaboration. Coordinated by Amusement Leisure Equipment Ltd. in Calgary, the project sourced components from various corners of the world, including steel from Three Star Steel in Calgary and skin components from China and the Philippines.
The project, spanning three years of planning, received the green light from the Drumheller And District Chamber of Commerce in June 1999. Construction took a year, starting with Sod Turning Ceremonies on October 2, 1999, and concluding with the Grand Opening festivities on October 13, 2000.
