Shoot Sporting ClaysSaskatoon Gun Club
Description
Sporting Clays at the Saskatoon Gun Club offers an exciting and challenging shooting experience that mimics bird hunting in the wild. Originating in England, this sport uses clay targets to simulate species like crossing mallards and rising pheasants. Unlike confined trap and skeet fields, sporting clays is set on a scenic walking course with 12 to 15 shooting stations, each designed to replicate different game species.
The 16-station course at Saskatoon Gun Club is designed for all skill levels, featuring targets for beginners, intermediates, and experts. With a mix of 'true-pairs' and 'report-pairs,' you can choose to shoot as many or as few targets as you like. The course continually changes throughout the season, keeping the experience fresh and engaging.
Course Features and Layout
Each station on the course has two machines, offering a variety of target presentations such as rabbits, springing teal, and crossing targets. The layout ensures a balanced mix of easy, intermediate, and challenging shots, allowing shooters of all levels to enjoy the experience together.
The course spans 1.4 kilometers and is easy to walk, but golf carts are available for those who prefer a more comfortable experience. Benches and garbage bins are conveniently located at each station, and while there are no washrooms on the course, facilities are available back at the clubhouse.
Types of Sporting Clay Target Presentations
- Incoming: Targets launched toward the shooter.
- Outgoing: Targets launched level or below the stand, moving away from the shooter.
- Crossing: Targets that fly at nearly right angles to the shooter.
- Quartering: Targets crossing at angles other than 90 degrees.
- Passing: Targets coming from behind and passing directly overhead.
The Saskatoon Gun Club's sporting clays course is an ideal activity for groups, providing a unique blend of challenge and fun. Whether you're an experienced shooter or a beginner, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
