Tipi Sleepovers at Wanuskewin offer a transformative experience that immerses visitors in the rich history and culture of the Northern Plains. Over six thousand years ago, this land echoed with the sounds of bison and the voices of Indigenous peoples. Today, guests can relive these stories, understanding why this site has always been a place of celebration, renewal, and deep spirituality. Visitors can enjoy an evening of guided programming, cultural connections, and overnight accommodation in Wanuskewin's outdoor Tipi Village, featuring 18-foot Plains Cree style tipis.

Guests can choose between Regular and Deluxe Tipi Sleepover packages, each offering a unique and unforgettable evening for all ages.
Regular Tipi Sleepover
- Group Size: Minimum of 15 participants
- Supplies: Bring your own bed rolls and other necessary items
- Programming: Up to two hours of interpretive programming
- Activities: Bannock Bake with hot chocolate in the Tipi Village
- Breakfast: Waffles, sausages, and juice (coffee available at an additional cost)
- Extras: Additional programs and customized menus available at an extra cost
Sample Itinerary
On Day 1, guests arrive at Wanuskewin at 5:30 PM for a meet and greet followed by setting up their camp. At 6:30 PM, they can choose from a 45-60 minute interpretive program, with another program available at 7:45 PM. As night falls, they gather around the campfire at 9:00 PM for a Bannock Bake and hot chocolate while discussing traditional Plains life. Self-guided exploration of the Tipi Village follows at 10:00 PM.
On Day 2, guests wake up at 8:00 AM to clean up the Tipi Village, then enjoy a breakfast at 8:30 AM. There is an option to stay on-site for additional self-guided touring or extra programming at 9:00 AM, which must be arranged in advance at an additional cost.
Additional Information
- Wanuskewin is an Indigenous ceremonial and gathering place; a strict no drugs or alcohol policy is in effect.
- There are no shower facilities on site.
- Tipi Sleepovers are one-night stays.
- There is no storage space for gear, so visitors should pack everything into a vehicle for the day if arriving before 5:00 PM or staying on site after 9:30 AM the next day.
- All food allergies and aversions need to be communicated 10 days prior to the event.
