Description

The Saskatoon Zoo Society, operating out of the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo, is dedicated to fostering respect for nature through environmental education.

Education & Programs

The Saskatoon Zoo Society offers a wide array of educational programs designed to inspire a love for nature and wildlife. From classroom education to public interpretation, day camps, summer camps, and birthday parties, there is something for everyone.

  1. On-Site Edzoocation: Learn about the animal kingdom through interactive programs that bring students and visitors closer to nature. These sessions are crafted to make learning fun and engaging.
  2. Virtual Programs: For those who can't make it to the zoo, virtual programs offer an alternative way to experience the wonders of wildlife from the comfort of home or classroom.
  3. Self-Guided Adventures: Visitors can guide their own journey through the zoo with self-guided programming kits. These kits include all necessary supplies and detailed instructions, allowing families or school groups to explore at their own pace.
  4. Young Naturalists: This program is perfect for young enthusiasts eager to learn more about the natural world through hands-on activities and observations.

Self-Guided Kits

The zoo offers several kits for rent, each designed to provide an immersive educational experience:

  • Biofact Box: This kit includes real and replica animal tracks, feathers, bones, and more, allowing for hands-on learning about the animal kingdom.
  • Owl Pellet Kits: Suitable for grades 4 to 8, these kits teach about owl diets and ecology through the dissection of owl pellets.
  • Pond-Dipping Kit: Ideal for grades 2 and up, this kit helps students explore the variety of invertebrates in prairie marshes, emphasizing the importance of ponds in ecosystems.

Buckeye Cafe

Visitors can grab snacks, lunch, ice cream, or beverages at the Buckeye Cafe while touring the zoo. The cafe supports the Saskatoon Zoo Society’s education programs and offers group and school lunch packages by advance request.

Birthday Parties

Celebrate special days at the zoo with unique birthday party packages. Each package includes 45 minutes with the Zoo's animal ambassadors and a party host, followed by 45 minutes in a private room for cake, food, and presents. The birthday child receives an animal plush and card, and there are options for scavenger hunts and additional activities.

Group Visits

For group or school tours, pre-booking is essential. Groups can enjoy tailored educational programs, and the zoo admission is included with every booked education program delivered by the Saskatoon Zoo Society.
