Horse Adventures at Historic Reesor Ranch offer a memorable way to explore the stunning landscapes of the Cypress Hills West Block Wilderness Area. From May 1st to October 31st, guests can enjoy a variety of horseback riding activities, scheduled daily at 10 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm. These adventures are available to both guests staying at the ranch and day visitors, making it an ideal destination for anyone looking to connect with nature and experience the thrill of horseback riding.
Horseback Riding Adventure
For those aged 10 and up, the 2-hour Horseback Riding Adventure provides a perfect introduction to the world of horses. Participants get to help brush, saddle, and get acquainted with their horse before setting off on a ride through the beautiful and diverse terrain of the Historic Reesor Ranch. The adventure includes both prep and riding time, with the option to add breakfast or supper to make the experience even more special. This activity is perfect for creating lasting memories while enjoying the scenic beauty of the ranch.
Pony Rides for Little Cowpokes
Designed for children of all ages, Pony Rides offer a gentle introduction to horseback riding. A wrangler guides the children on a gentle horse or pony through a fun obstacle course, one child at a time. This activity is ideal for birthday parties and children’s gatherings, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the little ones.
'Training for Trails' for Junior Riders
Geared towards children aged 6 to 9, but open to older children and adults, 'Training for Trails' focuses on basic horse control, safety, and confidence-building. Held in the corral and obstacle course, this one-hour experience teaches participants how to ride through and around obstacles, preparing them for more challenging trail rides. It’s a family favorite that combines learning with fun.
'Hanging Out with Horses' Team Building
For groups looking to enhance their teamwork and communication skills, the 'Hanging Out with Horses' activity offers a unique and stress-free environment. Through group exercises with horses, participants can build trust and improve their communication skills in a fun and relaxing setting. This one-hour experience is suitable for all ages and is perfect for corporate team-building events or group gatherings.
Important Information
- Reservations: Required to secure desired ride schedules.
- Footwear and Clothing: Proper footwear with a maximum 2-inch heel is recommended. No open-toe shoes or sandals. Long pants, layers for varying weather conditions, and a tight-fitting cap or cowboy hat with tie-down strings are advised. Helmets are provided and must be worn by all riders under 18, and are recommended for all ages.
- Health and Safety: A waiver must be read and signed prior to participating in any horseback activities. Participants will need to provide information about their riding experience and weight category to ensure the best horse pairing.
